Restore Frequently Asked Questions

Habitat ReStores are home improvement stores which sell new and gently used building supplies, kitchens, décor, furniture, lighting and much more for a fraction of retail price.

By shopping, donating, and volunteering at one of our three ReStores, you are helping low-income families across Saskatchewan gain affordable housing through our Homeownership Program. You are also helping keep tons of good quality items from going into landfills. Revenue generated through our ReStores helps to fund the cost of building homes, which allows donor dollars to go directly toward our mission. By helping us, you are helping your community!

We can save you time and money by donating unwanted items to our stores and we can pick up your donation for free.

Whether you’re looking to renovate your kitchen, re-furnish your living room, or decorate your space, the ReStore should be your first stop!

  • It is important for you to note that the ReStores reserve the right to take or leave an item as we have the ultimate say in what we will accept or not accept. This is based on the needs of the organization and operations of
    each ReStore.
  • For ReStores to accept an item, your donation must be prepared, which means it must be clean, the item cannot be broken or damaged, and (depending on the item) it might be best to assemble it before donating.
  • We require detailed photos of your items, especially furniture or other
    house items.
  •  Our Pick-up Service is curbside only. All items will need to be gathered and located either curbside (i.e., outside) or in a garage/ common area/entranceway prior to your scheduled pickup time.
  • All donation requests are subject to approval prior to confirmation. Please review our acceptable and unacceptable items list before requesting a donation pickup to ensure your donation is accepted.

A pick-up would only be cancelled in the event of a vehicle malfunction or due to a situation that is out of our control. If your pick-up is cancelled, you would be notified by a ReStore staff member.

All items for sale in the store are priced starting at 50% of the manufacturers suggested retail price. Please keep in mind that we price our items at a discounted rate, but our proceeds go towards building homes for low-income
families in need of safe and affordable housing.

All store prices are firm for the first two weeks after an item is placed on the sales floor. After two weeks, the price of that item may be reduced and could be negotiable.

You can contact any one of our ReStores in your area by phone or you can book a free donation pick-up online. Our website has section under our ReStore page that outlines what items we accept or do not accept for donation.

Tax receipts are available upon request on all donations above $20.00.

You can contact our office at 306-522-9700 if you are inquiring about a tax receipt or you can email us at info@habitatsask.ca.

Habitat Saskatchewan currently has 3 ReStores which are in the following locations: Regina, Saskatoon, and Prince Albert.

Volunteering at the ReStore is a great way to give back to your community, help the environment, develop new skills, and gain hands-on experience in retail! Volunteer opportunities include customer service, stocking shelves, tidying the store, cleaning donations, building, and moving furniture, and testing donations.

We can accommodate individuals or groups of any size with customized tasks that best suit the physical abilities of your crew. We are a barrier-free workplace that can accommodate any physical limitations. Individuals or groups can volunteer for a few hours or a whole day.

You can volunteer any day between Tuesday to Saturday during our regular store hours. If you are looking to volunteer at our ReStores in Saskatoon and Regina, please visit our website to sign-up and register for a volunteer shift.

If you are looking to volunteer at our ReStore in Prince Albert, please contact us at 306-763-7463 or restorepa@habitatsask.ca.

Registering for a volunteer shift at the ReStore ensures that we can work with you that day. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate you if you show up without registering.

Our organization will take or leave an item based off our operational and organizational needs. Sometimes we will reject a donated item if it is not salvageable or in a re-sellable condition.

If you are interest in applying to one of our three ReStore, please send us your resume! We are always looking to connect with really great talent and are interested in finding someone who would be a good fit for us.

You bet! Donating items to the ReStore is just one of the many ways you can donate to our organization.

We rely on gifts from individuals like you, corporations, and other groups to help families in need of decent and affordable homes throughout Saskatchewan and around the world. All donations of any amount are deeply appreciated. You can choose to give monthly, annually, or give a one time donation. Your donation will become part of our revolving building fund so your donation will continue to give.

Please visit our donation page on our website to see the many ways you can give to our organization. You can give a legacy gift, donate your car, or even give the gift of securities through Canada Helps. Monthly monetary donations can have a greater impact in our community while making less impact on your wallet. Your convenient and automatic monthly donation helps Habitat plan long-term, budget more efficiently and create more life-changing outcomes. Monthly donations can be any amount that is affordable and meaningful to you and can
be changed at any time.
